IELTSのサンプル解答です。筆者はIELTSライティングで7.0以上の取得を目指して勉強しています。特にTask 2では、与えられた質問に適切に答えることが求められますが、そのためには思考を整理することが必要だと考えています。この記事では、自分がどのように筋道を立ててエッセイを作っているのかを文章にしています。

In spite of the advances made in agriculture, many people around the world still go hungry.
Why is this the case?
What can be done about this problem?

ブレインストーミング
今回は、Problem – Solutionの問題です。
Problem – Solutionタイプのエッセイでは、問題の原因とその解決策をエッセイ内で示す必要があります。
Topicは「農業が発展しているのにも関わらず、未だに世界で多くの人がgo hungry （飢える）な状況にある」で、それに付随した質問が2つあります。
- なぜ農業の発展にも関わらず、飢えに苦しむ人が多いのか？（Problem）
- この問題にどのように対処することができるか？（Solution）
この2つの問いについて以下で考えをまとめてみます。
- 多くの場合、リソースが限られている途上国にこの手の問題が見られる
- （例）アフリカや東南アジアの国では、政府からの十分な支援がなく、近代技術にアクセスができないケースがある
- 加えて、台風や洪水などの自然災害も作物の生産に甚大な被害をもたらしている
- この問題に対処するためには、国際協力が欠かせない
- （例）筆者がフィリピンで開発コンサルタントとして働いていた際に、近代技術を用いた生産技術改善プログラムを実施した
- 適切な施肥の仕方や、その土地や気候に合う品種を選定
- 結果的に現地の農業技術の発展に繋がり、今もそれを実践している
- このように、食糧不足に対処するには国際間の協力が必須で、出来るだけ多くの人に学ぶチャンスを与える事が重要である
この2つをBodyパラグラフに組み込みます。
基本的に、Conclusionはそれまでに述べた内容を要約することで、エッセイを締めたいと思います。
筆者の解答例
Technological advances helped improve agricultural production dramatically, but many people still suffer from hunger in some parts of the world. There are several reasons for this, and insufficient resources and adverse climate conditions are the most crucial among them. However, some measures can be exerted to tackle this problem.
This food shortage stems from various reasons which may include the lack of resources that underdeveloped countries mostly face. Since some countries in Africa and Southeast Asia do not have adequate financial support from their government for introducing modern technologies, there are people who still rely on manual labors, leaving them behind compared to developed countries. In addition, some parts of the world are prone to natural disasters such as typhoons and flooding, which may heavily affect the production of crops.
In order to solve the said issue, international cooperation would be crucial. For example, in my experience as a development consultant in the Philippines, we introduced modern technologies and devised various training to increase the productivity and income of local farmers. As a result, such farmers learned the right time and amount of usage of fertilizer and pesticides according to the rice-growing stages and selected the types of seed that are the most applicable for their farm condition. The participants managed to improve their farming dramatically after the involvement, and they still keep good agricultural practices until now. Therefore, it is vital to give as many people the right opportunities as possible through international cooperation.
In conclusion, many people are still below the poverty line because they cannot benefit from technological advances in agriculture due to the lack of resources. However, this can be overcome by providing international support to those who need it the most.
